Halfway
Thursday, January 8th, 2009
In a few hours we’re braving the negative temperatures of Haarlem to walk to the bus station. After posting winter gear home today we are all ready for our 7am flight to Cairo and the commencement of the second half of the trip.
We’ve spent the past week staying with Tristan in Haarlem, an awesome town about a 20 minute train ride from Amsterdam. We’ve spent the time between relaxing and seeing the sights. Highlights definetly being the Heineken brewery and trying (and failing) snowboarding. It has been fairly cold while we’ve been here. The tv claims it is one of europes coldest ever winters and people are ice skating on all of the canals here (incredibly cool).
Pictures continue to be a pain to post on here, but we’ve managed to put a few hundred on facebook.
In Egypt we have one night to ourselves before a 9 day tour down the nile and through the sahara.

No more contiki
Friday, January 2nd, 2009
This morning we farewelled our Contiki tour and friends we’ve spent the last 23 days with.
We went to Amsterdam airport and attempted to send home some of our winter clothes and souvineers we’ve bought so far.
We’ve now got a week in Amsterdam.
Oh… And new years rocked…

Merry Christmas
Thursday, December 25th, 2008
We’re still alive. Merry Xmas to all. We’re in Vienna and today were going to check out the sites before ice skating. Tonight we are going to a Mozart concert for dinner.
